Baby Boomer Travel: Looking Young And Feeling Young For Baby Boomers

Baby boomers may not be the only people with the desire to look younger, but they are certainly a large section of the market. Baby boomers have led the movement towards the creation of many cosmetic and surgical solutions to the aging process. The quest to look young in baby boomers has resulted in an explosion of products and profits in the cosmetic and plastic surgery markets. It may be easy to write baby boomers desire to look young as simple vanity, but it actually goes deeper than that.

Baby boomers grounded their identities in the youth movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Before the boomer generation, there was no youth movement. But in the 1960s, the youth culture virtually took over American, and world, popular culture. Just the sheer number of young people made change possible. These baby boomers have connected their identity to this time, and to youth.

This cultural age put an importance on and celebrated youth. And this emphasis has stayed with the baby boomer generation through middle age and now in retirement. Some of what boomers adore about the idea of youth has to do with the passion for causes, and the idealism that is so often connected to young people. The new youth culture of the 1960's wanted to change the world for the better. This is what drove the whole movement. So, you can't fault baby boomers to want to hang on to that youthful exuberance.

So this drive to stay young often results in cosmetic attempts to look young. Everyone wants to look and feel good, so you can relate to these goals. But the real source of youth is not found in wrinkle free, tight skin, or perfect abs, it can be found in attitude. Now, the phrase 'you are as young as you feel' is often scoffed at by baby boomers as a cheap cop out. And it can be used as an excuse to act inappropriately. But, it can also be viewed as a positive outlook on life, and praising health and fitness. And this attitude can help you remain spry and vital throughout your life.

The best results come when baby boomers combine this youthful attitude with cosmetic products. We all have met an elderly person who is so full of life and fun that they seem much younger than they are. That sparkle in the eye, idealistic outlook, and joy in life that is so often found in younger people is a real find as we age. Combine this inner youth with products to help keep the skin's youthful appearance and you have a winning combination.

This is the real youth movement that the baby boomer generation is pioneering. To combine the youthful outlook on life, living a life you love, keeping that idealism and joy with products meant for aging skin is the right way to look and feel younger. From the inside out, you will feel and look great.
